Volunteering for TRUP

TRUP wants you to have a positive experience whilst you volunteer with us and it is our aim that you get what you want and need out of your time spent with us.

We recognise that everyone is different, you may be with us for a just a few weeks or you may be with us for longer, above all else we value our volunteers and we would not be able to operate with out them.

What we expect from you
As a volunteer you, like all the staff, volunteers and Directors, act as a representative of TRUP while you are volunteering. It is important that you respect the guidance we provide and policies we ask you to comply with, as people’s impressions of you will also be their impression of the organisation.

TRUP believes that volunteers should not be ‘out of pocket’ when they are freely giving their time to support our work. It is essential that ALL volunteers claim their expenses on the form we provide this allows us to understand the true cost volunteering for our funders.

Not everybody can afford to write off the cost incurred through volunteering, its is important that no stigma is attached to claiming expenses so we ask that all volunteers put in a claim even if the sum is retuned as a donation.

Volunteering - Managing the Charity
TRUP Advisory Board, that would be drawn from our partners in the community with whom we work with and have an interest in the success of the TRUP organisation, their function is to inform the trustee’s of developments in their specific area of interest to ensure the charity remains focused on delivering what’s required by our stakeholders the Board will meet six times a year.

Specialist knowledge volunteers
Professional qualified people (for example Solicitors, Accountants, HR Specialists, recycling experts) who are prepared to give expertise and knowledge on issues that enhance the sustainability of the project. We would not be expecting these people to attend meetings but to give advice by email or a short phone call and would not amount to more than 10 hours per year.

The Trustees The Board is interested in recruiting new trustees who can complement the skills of the current membership; we can offer free training if you are new to the role, and pay reasonable expenses, this is a great opportunity to be part of this new venture. If you are interested in joining the Board we already have a Trustee recruitment pack that will give all the relevant information on our work.
For information on the above opportunities please contact David Lawrence.
